StrataScales computing, network and storage operations are currently
hosted within two Sacramento, Calif. data centers operated by its parent
company, RagingWire Enterprise Solutions, Inc. Both facilities have now
been recognized for meeting stringent environmental standards, allowing
them to earn the industrys most coveted certifications: LEED Gold,
SSAE16 (formerly SAS 70) Type II Audited, Energy Star, and PCI Compliant
Level 1 Service Provider.
The companys original 250,000 square-foot data center (CA1) recently
earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencys Energy Star
certification, while its newer 250,000 square-foot data center (CA2) was
awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold
certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

The EPAs Energy Star certification recognized efficiency improvements
to the CA1 buildings data floor chillers, airflow monitoring and HVAC
plant pumps, which were retrofitted with variable-frequency drive
motors. These improvements which are expected to save more than 10
million kilowatt-hours of energy annually will also be implemented in
RagingWires newest 140,000 square-foot data center, scheduled to open
in the second quarter of 2012.
The LEED Gold certification recognized numerous design innovations and
green construction techniques used in the CA2 data center to increase
its energy, lighting and water-use efficiency, as well as the use of
recycled and reused materials. This LEED certification demonstrates
tremendous green building leadership, said Rick Fedrizzi, president,
CEO and founding chair of the US Green Building Council (USGBC). We

In addition to these environmental certifications, the two Sacramento
data centers recently were validated as fully compliant with the Payment
Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), an industry standard
that requires service providers that store, process, or transmit
customer payment card data to adhere to strict information security
controls and processes.
RagingWire also demonstrated its commitment to industry compliance and
operational excellence by successfully completing its latest Statement
on Standards and Attestation Engagements No. 16 (SSAE 16) data center
audit with no exceptions. This Type II audit is the more exhaustive of
the two SSAE 16 audit standards and includes in-depth testing of
controls and practices.
